Happy Veterans Day!

Filed under: Daily Reflections,NaBloPoMo — by sunflowersreflections @ 10:15 pm

Today is a day to remember the sacrifices made by those that have fought for our country’s freedoms.  Normally, we do not get very involved in Veterans Day activities.  However, today an extension to a highway was dedicated and named in memory of veterans.  Hubby participated in a 5K run over the second longest bridge in Illinois (which was fun to see be built!).  And we watched the dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting.  That including seeing the Governor from about 15 feet away.   Over all it was a fun day, we hung out on a new expressway, we saw people we would not normally see, and we froze our butts off.  All in all it was a great way to thank those that dedicated themselves fighting for all of us.  I might not always agree with the politics or the reasons, but I will always be thankful for the service provided by others.
