I Give Up!

Filed under: Daily Reflections,NaBloPoMo — by sunflowersreflections @ 10:29 pm

I am officially giving up sweets and soda.  There are several reasons for this – but the biggest one is in effort to try to shape up and lose a bit of weight.  I do not drink lots of soda, but enough that I am sure it makes a difference not to drink it.  Also, diet soda is out – the chemicals in that stuff is almost as bad as its “liquid sugar” regular counter part.  As for the sweets – this is a little tougher.  I will admit it, I have a sweet tooth.  And that sweet tooth gets larger when I am stressed.

There will probably more things to give up along the way, but these are the first two.  It is my hopes that placing this goal writing will help solidify my commitment to it.

On a side note, tomorrow is the first day I return to work since Tuesday.  I am a little worried.  I am really tired and have not slept well all week.  Also, I have not checked my email or voice messages – tomorrow will be a busy day.  Wish me luck!

  1. Good luck today. I’ve been thinking about you guys.

FYI, when I gave up corn syrup, I lost like 8 lbs in a month. It was crazy. It wasn’t as hard as you’d think (though this was before the pregnancy/nursing sweet tooth I’ve gotten), and I could still have pies, cakes, cookies, etc. as long as it didn’t have corn syrup in it. That way I was sure to avoid the highly commercial foods.

  3. Good luck! I think I could give up soda (he says, while sipping a coke) but the sugar thing? Never.
